It is a major wildlife water source and is, therefore, an essential part of the wildlife ecosystems of Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Tarangire National Park. In addition, Lake Manyara is the country’s largest breeding ground for tens of thousands of flamingos.

Another big draw card in this huge caldera is the denser population of predators, which include lion, hyena, cheetah, jackals and the ever-elusive leopard that needs sharp eye to be spotted. All this animals are bounded by the volcanic walls of 600 meters and can be viewed in a very close range.
You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is among the main features of the crater. Large flocks of flamingos, many aquatic birds & hippos can usually being seen here.

Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River that rises in the highlands of central Tanzania and winds its way through the game sanctuary.
The river irresistibly lures the herds of plains migrants from the parched surrounding area to its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters during the dry season.
The animals come by thousands from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron, dramatically swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, and eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo and fringe-eared Oryx.
As the rainless days continue the Tarangire’s pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed.
