Tour Details

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Keys Tours representative will meet you, pick you up and transfer to Keys Hotel. If you arrive early, after a short rest and fresh up you will get brief information about the tour. Dinner and overnight at Keys Hotel.

This day is for your acclimatization. After adjusting the bikes your guide will ride with you along the lower slopes of the volcano and around town. 19.3 – 40.2 kilometers.

Dinner and overnight : at Keys Hotel
The route is on uneven paths, mainly over the farmland of the Chagga people. A long climb leads to Marangu, one of the gateway points to Kilimanjaro. Banana and coffee plantations can be seen along with little villages. Towards the end, a 12.9 kilometers downhill takes us back into savannah country to a beautiful lodge at Lake Chala, offering birding and game viewing on foot 70 kilometers ascent.

Overnight : At Lake Chala Safari Lodge on a full board basis.
Further north anti-clockwise around the volcano. In the higher regions, you will see water/soil-saving farming practices of the locals. You will ride close to the Kenyan border climbing gently to a higher altitude. The last 9.6 kilometers are on tar and quite steep. In the afternoon you arrive at a cozy chalet. This is one of the starting points leading to the mountain. If you want to get a taste of what it’s like, you can go for a walk of 66 kilometers.

Overnight : At Snow Cap Lodge on full body basis.
Cross the northern ridge of Kilimanjaro to the highest point of the tour at 6300 ft. Our tires will reach their limit because of the large acacia thorns. During the last kilometers, you might spot some wild game.

Overnight : At Maasai Olpopongi Lodge on full board basis

In the morning you will ride between Mt. Kili. and Mt. Meru. During the hilly and dusty ride you might spot elephants, zebra, antelope, and buffalo. Overnight at Mkuru Eco Tented Camp.

Through acacia and shrub landscape you will head back to Moshi. A steep climb brings us back into Chagga territory. Banana and coffee plantations change with little settlements before we descend for the lovely Keys Hotel. In the evening you can celebrate the ride with some cold Kilimanjaro beer.

Overnight : At Keys Hotel on half board basis.

After breakfast, relax by the pool or join the guide for a walk through Moshi. A transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
