Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

This is the highest mountain in Africa. It is snow caped and world’s highest free standing volcano summits. The mountain comprises of two dormant volcanoes (Kibo 5,895m a.m.s.l and Mawenzi 5,149m a.m.s.l) and one extinct volcano (Shira 3,962m a.m.s.l) respectively. The origin of the word is not well known but it said to be a combination of the Swahili word Kilima meaning “Mountain” and the Kichagga word Njaro, loosely translated as “Whiteness” giving the name “White Mountain”.

Its size is 1,712Km2 and was declared as a National Park in 1973, officially opened for tourism in 1977, Kilimanajaro mountain was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987 and Natural Wonder of Africa in 2013. Climbing to the top which is far up into the sky it’s a life time experience that no one can forget.

There are seven official trekking routes by which to ascend and descend Kilimanjaro: Lemosho, Lemosho Western-Breach, Machame, Marangu, Mweka, Rongai, Shira, and Umbwe.

6 Days Rongai Route

Rongai route is less crowded compared to Marangu, it is the easiest route of all the route. It has a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages

Marangu Via Cycling

Kilimanjaro bike trek is a new product of trekking Mt. Kilimanjaro. Kilema route is the only route that clients can use bicycle to trek all the way to the top of the Mount Kilimanjaro.

6 Days Marangu Route

If you accept that there will be others around, there are the advantages of good huts, good views of Mawenzi and, of course, others to walk with.

7 Days Rongai Route

Rongai route is less crowded compared to Marangu, it is the easiest route of all the route. It has a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages

This is one of the shortest routes to the southern glaciers and the western breach of Kibo. An ascent to Kibo via the Umbwe route

Best Time To Visit Kilimanjaro
