Kilimanjaro
The mountain is in Tanzania, East Africa, about 350km south of equator. The nearest towns are Moshi and Arusha.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world and the highest mountain in Africa. Its highest point is Uhuru Peak on the Kibo crater at 5895m above sea level.
You can climb at any month of the year. At lower elevations, April, May, and November are quite wet while March and June are transitional months. August and September are the coldest and driest months. All in all January, February, July, August, and September are all popular climbing months.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport you will be met by our representative and taken to Keys Hotel .
Keys Hotel is the most spectacular place one will always wish to stay, Keys Hotel.-2700 ft (BB).
After finishing your climb you will be taken to Keys Hotel for hot shower, dinner & overnight rest. (BB)
There are no bathrooms on the mountain. Warm water will be supplied in a bowl and you will be able to wash your face and hands. For the rest parts you will use wipes. Toilets are simple, hole-in-the-ground types. Portable showers and toilets can be rented on request at extra costs.
There are at least six routes to the top, Uhuru peak. You will hike between 53 and 73km depending on which route you choose.
The shortest and toughest is the 5-day Umbwe route. Allowing extra days will help you to acclimatize better and improve your chances of reaching the summit. The easiest and most popular route is Marangu (can be done in five days), but Kilimanjaro-Experience use six days for this route. The longest hike is Lemosho route which may take up to 9 days.
You must arrive healthy and fit. A simple cold or other respiratory sickness can become worse during the trekking. There is no malaria risk on the mountain and insect bites are very rare.
Tipping is a very cultural thing on Kilimanjaro. The tradition of tipping has evolved over the last two decades to it's current state. As a company, we don't get invovled in the tipping process. We can only give you our guidelines on what the crew is expecting. Tips are given directly by you to the crew.
