Best Time to Visit Uganda for Gorilla Trek:

Uganda is a year-round travel destination thanks to its equatorial location and lake effect chill brought by Lake Victoria. There are two rainy seasons: the long rains from March to May, and the short rains from October to November. Even during these months, the sunshine will follow the showers, so travel is not disrupted, but the paths will be slippery and the trekking strenuous.

The best gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry months of June to September, and again from December to February, when the forest paths are easier to trek on foot and the chances of heavy downfalls are lower. These months, however, are the most booked, so the gorilla permits as well as lodge booking in advance is a great idea.

But year-round gorilla trekking is an option, though, and trekking during the rainy months has its advantages too. Lodge prices often decrease, gorilla permits also reduced, and the park is less crowded. During the rains, the forests are also lush green with the explosion of the bird life, offering an alternative kind of adventure.

With daytime temperatures registered at an average of 21°C (71°F) along with cool nights, the weather in Uganda is comfortable overall. Whether during the high season or the less busy rainy season, tracking the mountain gorillas in Uganda is one of the most unforgettable African wildlife adventures.
